The FEI has extended the competition ban until 11 April 2021, which was implemented on 1 March 2021 due to the outbreak of the EHV-1 virus in Valencia. This was decided at the FEI Executive Board Meeting on 12 March 2021.
The measure applies to all international competitions in Continental Europe and aims to limit the further spread of the highly aggressive virus. The ban on international competitions applies to all FEI disciplines. As a result, the FEI World Cup Finals in dressage and jumping have been cancelled for the second year running. These were due to take place in Gothenburg from 31 March 2021 until 4 April 2021.
The FEI advises all national federations to cancel events to minimise the movement of horses.
